With over 20 years of experience, The Alaska Running Academy(ARA) is your secret to success. The academy is owned and operated by Doug Herron, one of Alaska's most successful runners and coaches. He competed at all levels, including internationally. His programs have produced numerous state champions. Some of his athletes and teams were ranked among the top 20 in the United States. If you are looking for a way to reach your goals look no further. The mission of ARA is to promote the sport of running, raise the level of performance statewide and to ultimately help you open the door to your success.

Reach Your True Potential.

Sprints/Jumps

Coach E is one of the best hurdle/jump coaches around. Coach E will teach you the proper mechanics and provide you with the training progressions to become the best sprinter/jumper you can be.

Distance

As the owner and coach of ARA, I believe that in order to be a competitive middle distance or distance runner you need to effectively address all areas of development. I focus on the technical aspects of running, overall strength, 3-D flexibility, speed progressions, event-specific training and the psychology of peak performance. The overall goal is to run faster than you ever have.

Hurdles

Experience what is known as the “Coach E Factor”! Whether you are a veteran or new to hurdling, Coach E and Coach Brian will get you there. Their hurdlers are the best in the state year in and year out.
